Nicole Harber
Pregnancy is such a beautiful and transformative time, but it can also feel overwhelming — full of questions, fears, and anticipation. That’s where I come in.
As a holistic birth doula, my role is to walk beside you through pregnancy, and birth offering support that goes beyond the physical. To me, birth isn’t just a medical event — it’s a deeply human, emotional, and spiritual experience that shapes your family forever.
Why Holistic Preparation Matters
When most people think about preparing for birth, they focus on the physical side: contractions, breathing, and pain management. Those things matter, but preparing holistically can make a real difference.
It’s also:
Emotional: Feeling confident and connected to yourself, your partner, and your baby.
Mental: Cultivating positive beliefs about birth and feeling prepared to make choices.
Spiritual: Connecting with the deeper meaning of welcoming new life, whether through meditation, rituals, or simply a sense of presence.
My approach is to honor all of these layers — mind, body, and spirit — so you can feel grounded, cared for, and empowered as your birth approaches.
Five Holistic Practices I Recommend
1. Mindful Breathing and Meditation
Your breath is one of the most powerful tools you have during pregnancy and labor. Even just a few minutes a day of deep, intentional breathing can reduce anxiety and help you stay present. Try inhaling slowly for four counts, holding for four, and exhaling for four — it’s simple but incredibly grounding.
2. Gentle Movement and Prenatal Yoga
Keeping your body strong and flexible supports both pregnancy and labor. Gentle stretching, walking, or prenatal yoga improves circulation, eases discomfort, and helps your baby find an optimal position. Move in ways that feel good — there’s no pressure to push yourself.
3. Visualization and Positive Affirmations
Imagining a calm, empowering birth can help reframe your mindset. I often guide parents through visualizations of their ideal birth environment or each contraction bringing them closer to meeting their baby. Pair this with affirmations like, “My body knows how to birth my baby” to build confidence and focus.
4. Nourishing Your Body
Eating well and staying hydrated supports both your energy and your baby’s development. Focus on nutrient-rich foods, gentle herbal teas, and small, frequent meals. Nourishing yourself is an important way to honor your body and your baby.
5. Emotional Connection and Support
Pregnancy and birth are emotional journeys. Talking with your partner, friends, or a doula can help you process fears and clarify your birth preferences. Journaling or gentle reflection can also help you feel grounded and connected to your baby before labor begins.
How I Support You
Every family is unique, and so is the support I provide. My goal is to walk beside you, offering guidance and encouragement while honoring your individual needs.
Physical Support: Breathing techniques, gentle movement, and comfort measures.
Emotional Support: Holding space for your feelings, offering encouragement, and helping your partner feel confident.
Spiritual Support: Practices like meditation, visualization, or supporting meaningful personal rituals.
Is Holistic Support Right for You?
If you want to prepare for birth in a way that supports your mind, body, and spirit, holistic doula care may be a wonderful fit. It’s especially helpful if you want:
To feel calm and confident naturally.
Emotional and spiritual guidance alongside physical support.
A birth experience that reflects your values and beliefs.
Connection with your partner and baby throughout the journey.
Walking Beside You
For me, being a doula isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about walking beside you as you step into one of life’s most sacred journeys. My role is to hold space, remind you of your strength, and help you welcome your baby with peace and confidence.
If you’re in Noblesville or the surrounding Indiana area, I would be honored to support you through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Every birth deserves to be more than safe — it deserves to be sacred.
